Project Overview
To address the challenge of COVID-19, our clients Wow Prime which is the biggest chain in Taiwan and has multiple restaurants with different dining styles wanted to implement a streamlined experience for customers to have a safe dining environment.
My Contributions
・Designed the product from 0 to 1
・Identified the needs of different types of restaurants
・Validated the design solution by testing with stakeholders.
・Delivering a design spec and pattern library for implementation.
Kick-off
Created a white-labelling product for any type of restaurant.
The objectives :1. A self-service platform for different types of restaurants.2. Product has to be controlled by POS and self-ordering system to manage table turn time.3. Easy to user product for wide range age group.
Define the focus
Streamlining the dining experience and enlarging the revenue profit is the priority.
In the typical service in the restaurant, waiters need to serve clients and prepare meals at the same time. To maximise benefits of the restaurants is to optimise operation process to enhance the table turn time. The team brainstormed with a defined focus to deliver this minimum viable product in a relatively short time and created a user flow and wireframes to align with the stakeholder's needs.
Design delivery
Keep it Simple !
The team brainstormed with a defined focus to deliver this minimum viable product in a relatively short time. We aligned the principles at the start :

・Simple and easy to build.
・Consider future expansion of functionality.
・White-labelling product.
White-label product to fit different dining styles
Accommodating various restaurant styles with customised features :
・Colour themes settings.
・Dining duration control.
・Order limitations based on number of clients and ages.
・Pricing range setting based on age and time of day.
Real-time updates information
Receive real-time updates on customers’ order status.
Control over turnover time on POS & SST.
Reflection
Providing exceptional solutions for restaurant operations, and our self-service ordering system is no exception. However, it's also a challenge!
Recognising that each restaurant has its unique style, we will offer customisation options, allowing users to tailor the colours and style of the self-service ordering system to align with their brand identity. Because of the time limitation, we did not build a control centre at our MVP for customer to change their colour themes.

The results :
1. Japanese restaurant (町食) reduced the number of waiters from 10 to just 2  in one shift.
2. Restaurant "Power of meat(肉次方)" brought revenue and opened 2 stores during the COVID-19.
